NAPLAN Explorer for Web

Picture
NAPLAN Explorer is web delivered within the Literatu Assessment Platform. Teachers have full access to all dashboards and students in the context of their classes.

When schools purchase NAPLAN Explorer, a secure online community is established. Teachers have secure access via Google or O365 login accounts.

If you are a school in NSW, you can download your school's base NAPLAN data, required for Explorer,  directly from the SMART DATA site.

NAPLAN Explorer for Power BI  - by Microsoft

Picture
A powerful option for schools to choose is linking NAPLAN Explorer data to Microsoft Power BI. This dramatically increases the power of inquiry and detailed reporting capabilities. Power BI can then join Explorer data with other school data sources for a complete analysis.

Aligning PAT results against NAPLAN, against class results for common curriculum skills, is a great example of what is quickly possible with Power BI. Results from queries like this are quick to derive and invaluable to see.

The Explorer for Power BI option delivers a default set of dashboards and reports that activate a raft of Q&A query options direct into the data.

NAPLAN Explorer for WEB creates the POWER BI environment, data source and capability for schools. Schools connect to the data source using their own Power BI Tenant.

In our view, there are many critical yet disparate data sources in schools, that are rarely joined and analysed. Power BI from Microsoft goes a long way to letting schools achieve this, themselves.  We see Power BI as the power platform every school needs to initiate data analysis to drive learning.

For information about how to set up a Power BI tenant if you don't already have one, please contact us.

Unleash Power BI Q&A across your NAPLAN data

Picture
Power BI has a unique Question and Answer ability.  You simply ask BI questions about your data. BI has an amazing ability to answer your English language based query with data and most times, a chart that visualises your query. When Microsoft release Cortana for BI, you will simply ask your Windows 10 computer a spoken question.

The query on the left asks BI to  "show average score by domain by skill where student at risk is high"

Domains are Reading, Numeracy, Language, Reading etc. Skills in each domain are defined in the NAPLAN test. Students are tagged as 'at risk' if their raw score is below 50%. The query "show average score by domain by skill where student at risk is high" now makes perfect sense.

The ability you have to start looking into the data and then follow your inquiring mind, is limitless. Of course the POWER BI model can be extended and enhanced without breaking the core data supplied by NAPLAN Explorer.
